How is DAvED Different from HomePlug?

For one thing, DAvED is far simpler than HomePlug.  DAvED works entirely through the electrical wiring that’s already in your home.  With HomePlug, you’ll need a broadband connection to the Internet.  Want more information on DAvED and HomePlug whole house audio systems?  Read on!

What is HomePlug Whole House Audio?

A HomePlug whole-house audio system uses a broadband connection or broadband-enabled wiring in your home and the existing AC wiring as a network backbone to create access points throughout your home.

Much like DAvED, HomePlug turns every electrical outlet into an Ethernet jack or network connection point.  (Of course, you can still plug an old-fashioned iron into any AC outlet.)  Because it’s more complex, HomePlug enables internet, TV, and music throughout your home.

How DAvED Whole House Audio Works

Unlike HomePlug, the DAvED whole house audio system does not require a broadband connection.  All you need is your home’s existing wiring carrying live AC for DAvED to bring you all the benefits of a high-quality, whole-house audio system.

How HomePlug and DAvED Differ – Equipment

Another difference between HomePlug and DAvED is the equipment you’ll need.

For HomePlug, you’ll need:

  • HomePlug adaptor to plug into a broadband router
  • Wi-fi range extenders
  • HomePlug speakers

With DAvED, you need only:

  • One ZR6001 DAvED-enabled audio/video receiver
  • As many ZC4001 clients as you want

Installation?  Simple!  Just plug the receiver and clients into wall outlets, connect your source components to your DAvED receiver, and you’re ready to play music wherever you want to.
